Scott Vowels Scott Vowels - MBOC Grant Operator, President SRMBC

Mr. Scott A. Vowels became the fourth fulltime Executive Director of the South Regions Minority Business Council (SRMBC) on October 17, 2004.  In March of 2005, Vowels was named President of the SRMBC.

Mr. Vowels brings over ten years of procurement/financial management experience to the SRMBC office.  Vowels came to the SRMBC from General Motors (GM) where he spent four years in World Wide Purchasing (WWP) at the Technical Center in Warren, Michigan.

Before joining General Motors, Vowels served as the Finance Representative for the Purchasing, Supplier Quality (P&SQ) and Material Flow (PC&L) organizations at the Saturn Corporation in Spring Hill, Tennessee.  Following a sucessful collegiate career, Vowels toured the world playing professional tennis.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Sociology as well as a Master of Arts in Economics from Western Kentucky.  Scott recieved his Masters in Business Administration from Tennessee State University.

Scotts enjoys reading and playing tennis in his time away from work.  Scott's brother, Robert Vowels, is a fixture in Birmingham as well, serving as Commissioner of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
